Las Vegas is heavily laden with attorneys.
If you have a copy of the yellow pages, the two most filled categories are escorts and attorneys.
Quite a combination.
You can have a good time with an escort , get busted by metro for being in a compromising position with said escort and then lo and behold, call any number of the attorneys listed.
The problem is, that for as many attorneys as there are in Nevada, there is a major percentage of very bad attorneys that seem to get away with bad service, a license to steal, not knowledgeable, and misrepresenting their abilities.
Let's face it, you are vulnerable and in a situation where you need help from an "expert" and the last thing you need is to be stuck with an unethical attorney whom you do not have the energy to pursue complaints against for lousy or misrepresented service because you are too caught up in your case. These BAD attorneys rely on that fact. There are the ones that take your retainer, rack up unnecessary costs, make serious mistakes on your case and move on to the next victim once you fire them. Good luck getting your retainer back.
Then there are the ones that state that they put "hours and hours" into your case which 8 times out of 10 is sadly a fabrication. It is my experience that no other profession, including Doctors, have a larger ego than the cesspool of BAD attorneys. Perhaps it is to cover up their shortcomings and weaknesses. One will never know because there is no better liar than a money hungry attorney.
Then there are the good guys, the good attorneys that genuinely care about their clients, that provide the best possible advice and service and deserve accolades. Try finding these guys. It's like a needle in a haystack. But when you do find the ever elusive good guy attorney, NEVER let him/her go, for he/she is more valuable than anything you can imagine. So far, in the Criminal Defense category, there are only three good attorneys that you will never regret having on your side. They care about their clients, they are ethical, fair and not money hungry. These are the guys to hire whenever you need good criminal representation. They are listed below under "Good".
The people of Nevada need to be made aware of whom to stay far away from with regard to attorneys and whom to flock to whenever an attorney is required.
This blog has been created to shine a light on the good, the bad and the ugly.
The author of this blog also encourages feedback from other people's experiences with various attorneys, good or bad.
As citizens, we need to band together to help lower business down to a minimum to nonexistent for the bad attorneys and shine a light on the good ethical attorneys, so that no one will be caught up in a frustrating and heart rendering situation with an unethical attorney who will only make things worse for you in the long run.
There is no other profession that has such a license to steal than an attorney. The ethical ones will NOT take advantage of that fact. It will behoove you to do your homework and find the right one, the ethical one, the one that really cares about your case, about justice and not how he is going to use your retainer toward his next BMW all while you are stuck because you handed over your money to the wrong guy.
